"If this call is unprovoked, then that's disgusting"- Taylor Fritz reacts to an outrageous line call in college-level tennis

World No. 8 Taylor Fritz voiced his opinion after a shocking video of college-level tennis emerged online.

A student from Radford University was caught on camera calling a routine ball out even though it was in the middle of the court. Many have accused the teenager of cheating and taking advantage of the fact that there was no chair umpire present to officiate the match.

Fritz, the 2015 ITF Junior World Champion, reflected back on his college days and spoke about how he dealt with a similar situation by replying to the outrageous post on his Twitter handle.

"I was an overly nice line caller in juniors but honestly when someone was cheating me really bad this is how I handled it, call a random ball out and they won't mess with you again. Is that what's happening here? Who knows... but if this call is unprovoked, then that's disgusting," Taylor Fritz said

The American has put in the hard yards to reach the top 10 of the ATP rankings and had an amazing junior year in 2015, chalking up a title-winning run at the US Open Championship and a runner-up finish at the French Open.

He also reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, which helped him finish as the No. 1 ranked junior player in the world.

Fritz further shared his opinion on the appalling issue and stated the best way to deal with cheaters.

"It's gotta be a 'make it even call' has always been the best way to deal with cheaters. If someone purposefully hooks you badly first, then it's all fair game in my opinion. But when I get hooked, I will do this back to them and then go get the umpire," Taylor Fritz said

Taylor Fritz will now compete at the 2023 Dallas Open after his disappointing second-round exit at the Australian Open. He entered the hardcourt Major on the back of a title-winning run at the United Cup and kicked off his campaign with a solid win over Nikoloz Basilashvili.

However, the eighth seed was stunned by Australian wildcard and fan favorite Alexei Popyrin in an epic five-set clash. The 23-year-old defeated Fritz 6-7(4), 7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-2 in just over four hours of absorbing tennis.

The American will now be headlining the ATP 250 Dallas Open alongside Frances Tifoe as the No. 2 seed. Defending champion Riley Opelka was forced to withdraw due to injury, but the likes of Denis Shapovalov and Miomir Kecmanovic are included on the entry list. Fritz will kick off his campaign against Jack Sock on Wednesday.
