Aryna Sabalenka will begin her 2025 season by competing at the Brisbane International which will take place from December 29, 2024, to January 5, 2025. The matches will be held at the Queensland Tennis Centre.

In 2024, Sabalenka reached the semifinals of the WTA 500 hardcourt tournament but fell short of winning the title after losing to Elena Rybakina.

Speaking about competing at the Brisbane International, Sabalenka said:

“I’m really looking forward to returning to Brisbane again. I had a great time this year and enjoyed playing in front of the Queensland crowds. Hopefully I can go one better in 2025.” [via Brisbane International].

Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek was scheduled to start her 2025 season at the United Cup. However, she will miss out on playing in the tournament because of the one-month ban she received from the ITIA after testing positive for the prohibited substance trimetazidine (TMZ) in August 2024.

Swiatek is expected to start her season at the 2025 Australian Open. Her best result at the Melbourne Major came in 2022 when she reached the semifinals before falling to eventual runner-up Danielle Collins.
