Iga Swiatek vs Coco Gauff: Where to watch, TV schedule, live streaming details and more | Dubai Tennis Championships 2023, SF
World No. 1 Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff will lock horns in the semifinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships on Friday. It will be the sixth meeting between the two, with Swiatek currently leading 5-0 in the head-to-head.
The two faced each other four times last season, with the Pole winning each of them comprehensively.
Iga Swiatek has been in sensational form lately, dropping only eight games in her last few matches. She successfully defended her title at the Qatar Open, thrashing Jessica Pegula 6-3, 6-0 in the final.
The World No. 1 started the Dubai Tennis Championships with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Leylah Fernandez and followed it up with a 6-1, 6-0 thrashing of Liudmila Samsonova to reach the quarterfinals. Here, she was scheduled to face Karolina Pliskova but the Czech withdrew due to illness. Thus, Swiatek booked her place in the semifinals.
Coco Gauff trounced Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-0, 6-4 in the second round of the Dubai Tennis Championships to set up a third-round clash against Elena Rybakina. However, the Kazakh withdrew from the tournament due to a lower back injury, this giving the American a walkover to the quarterfinals.
Here, she beat compatriot Madison Keys 6-2, 7-5 to book her place in the semifinals.
Swiatek will enter the match as the heavy favorite to win but Gauff should not be written off as she can give the Pole a run for her money if she is at her best. The winner of the fixture will face either third seed Jessica Pegula or Barbora Krejcikova in the final.
