In Pictures: Andy Murray's daughters Sophia and Edie steal the show at Wimbledon; make rare appearance with his wife Kim to support his final campaign
Andy Murray enjoyed the support of his dearest ones as he took the court for his final Wimbledon campaign before retirement. Among the special guests were his wife, Kim, and his two eldest children, daughters Sophia and Edie.
Just days after withdrawing from singles at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, two-time tournament champion (2013, 2016) Andy Murray joined forces with his brother Jamie, a doubles specialist, in the men’s doubles category. Murray’s heartbreaking withdrawal from the singles event was due to his failure to recover in time after undergoing back surgery a couple of weeks ago.
The Murray brothers took the Centre Court on Thursday, July 4, coming up short against the Aussie pair of John Peers and Rinky Hijikata 7-6 (8), 6-4. It is worth noting that earlier this year, the Brit announced that he wouldn’t be playing past this summer, with either Wimbledon or the upcoming Paris Olympics being the ideal places to retire.
Given Andy Murray’s revelation, Wimbledon organized a special farewell ceremony for their home hero following his defeat in doubles. The likes of Novak Djokovic, Holger Rune, Jack Draper, Dan Evans, Cameron Norrie, Iga Swiatek, Tim Henman, and Lleyton Hewitt also made their way to the Centre Court to honor the three-time Grand Slam Champion’s illustrious career.
Also present in the stands was Murray’s wife of nine years, Kim Sears. His daughters Sophia and Edie also made a rare appearance to adorably show their support. The 37-year-old’s parents, mother Judy and father William, also turned up to witness their son’s final campaign.

Andy Murray on his daughters supporting him at Wimbledon: "It was lovely that they were able to come"
Andy Murray and his wife, Kim Sears, had their first daughter, Sophia, in 2016, a year after their marriage. Their second daughter, Edie, was born in 2017. The couple welcomed their third child, Teddy, in 2019, and their youngest daughter, Lola, was born in 2021.
Murray has often spoken about his life as a dad and shared several anecdotes involving his kids. The quartet, though, has only been to one of his matches before, at the 2023 Nottingham Open. About his daughters' Wimbledon appearance, the Brit said:
"I didn’t know they were coming. And then when we were waiting in the locker room I saw on one of the TVs that they were there sitting next to my wife. It was nice," he said in his post-match press conference.
"They’ve only been to one other match that I played in the stands before in Nottingham," Andy Murray recalled.
The 46-time tour champion hilariously added that his daughter Edie was probably struggling because her sleep schedule was disrupted.
"It was nice they managed to make it. Although I think my second - Sorry I should call them by their names but I always just go in order," he said laughing.
"Yeah, the second kid was struggling I think. It was way past her bed time. But yeah it was lovely that they were able to come and watch."
Although Andy Murray’s men’s doubles run was halted in the opening round, the Brit is set to entertain the home crowd once again on Saturday as he partners Emma Raducanu in mixed doubles. The pair take on Marcelo Arevalo and Zhang Shuai in the first round.
