In Pictures: Aryna Sabalenka and boyfriend Georgios Frangulis enjoy romantic Paris getaway during off season
Aryna Sabalenka is vacationing with her boyfriend Georgios Frangulis in Paris. In the latest update from the couple, Sabalenka shared glimpses of their time exploring the French capital.
Sabalenka had a spectacular start to the 2024 season that saw her lift the Australian Open trophy in January. However, she struggled with a shoulder injury after a quarterfinal exit at the French Open and withdrew from Wimbledon and the Paris Olympics.
The Belarusian bounced back and won the Cincinnati Open before lifting her second Grand Slam trophy of the year at the US Open. She later won the Wuhan Open adding another feather to her cap before closing her season as the year-end World No. 1.
Setting her racquet aside during the offseason, Sabalenka shared an Instagram story containing a picture of a Parisian cafe with a cup of coffee set on a table.
The story also contained a picture of Sabalenka holding two polaroids, one of Frangulis and another of the couple cozying in a corner of a restaurant. She captioned it:
"Romantic getaway trip."
Another picture showed a bed decorated with mock tennis racquets and roses presumably from the Four Season George V in Paris where the couple stayed. Sabalenka captioned it:
"What a surprise. I don't want to leave this place."
The couple began dating this year and Frangulis, who owns a superfood brand, Oakberry, was present in the stand to support Sabalenka during the 2024 US Open.
Aryna Sabalenka found "biggest support" in her boyfriend Georgios Frangulis during her US Open title-win
Before her third Grand Slam victory after the 2023 and the 2024 Australian Open, Aryna Sabalenka found a "big support" in her boyfriend Georgios Frangulis.
Frangulis was present in Sabalenka's player's box at the 2024 Cincinnati Open where she won the title. She had just recovered from a shoulder injury and had mentioned Frangulis' support in her winning speech.
Later, before the semifinals at the 2024 US Open in an interaction with People magazine, Sabalenka spoke about what Frangulis' support meant to her.
“There was a really tough period where I was really happy to have him by my side, always cheering me up, always making sure that we are doing some fun stuff,” she said.
“But I make sure I kind of forget about tennis and focus on the good things and enjoy my life. Even when things are going wrong in my career. So yeah, he was my biggest support and yeah, really happy to have him by my side," she added.
The couple were last seen together on the tennis circuit at the Wuhan Open where Sabalenka went to hug her beau in the player's box after winning the title.
