In pictures: Emma Raducanu gives fans a glimpse into how her life has been after Australian Open
Emma Raducanu has given her fans a glimpse of how her life has been ever since the Brit's campaign at the 2023 Australian Open.
Raducanu commenced the new season at the ASB Classic in Auckland. She was knocked out of the tournament in the second round upon retiring midway through the match owing to an ankle injury. She then flew to Melbourne for the first Grand Slam of the season. The Brit failed to surpass seventh seed Coco Gauff in the second round as her campaign Down Under came to an end.
The World No. 82 has taken a short break since then. She is not expected to take part in any tournaments on tour throughout February. During her time off, Raducanu engaged in sessions on the court and also took time to indulge in good food and travel.
Raducanu took to social media to share a few pictures on Tuesday as she reflected on her recent life.
"lately," she captioned her Instagram post.
Raducanu has been taking things slowly of late owing to her vulnerability toward injury.
Meanwhile, the British star has been awarded a wild card for the 2023 BNP Paribas Open that begins on March 6, 2023. Ranked 82 in the world, the former US Open champion just missed out on making the main draw cut for the WTA 1000 event in Indian Wells.
Last year in Indian Wells, Raducanu received a first-round bye. She defeated reigning WTA Finals champion Caroline Garcia before losing against Petra Martic in the third round.
John McEnroe feels Emma Raducanu "can have a great year" in 2023
Former tennis player John McEnroe recently backed Emma Raducanu despite her poor form on tour of late.
McEnroe acknowledged that the 2022 season was "overwhelming" for the young Brit amidst injuries and rapid changes. However, he expressed hopes of witnessing Raducanu return to the level she was at during her US Open triumph.
"I think the last year has been overwhelming, obviously. She has gone through a lot of changes in her life and now she has had issues with injuries. Everyone in the tennis world is hopeful that she can embrace what’s happening with her and hope that she gets back to the level she showed at the US Open," McEnroe said.
The American affirmed that Raducanu is "sure" to have a great season in 2023.
"We just all want to see her compete and enjoy the challenge in front of her, I’m sure she can have a great year," he stated.
Emma Raducanu will be hoping to turn things around when she resumes her 2023 season at the BNP Paribas Open.
