Lorenzo Musetti and his girlfriend Veronica Confalonieri recently celebrated their son Ludovico’s baptism. The couple welcomed their first child in March 2024.
Musetti was last seen in action at the 2024 US Open, losing in the third round. The Italian began his campaign in New York against Reilly Opelka, winning 7-6(3), 1-6, 6-1, 7-5. He followed this up with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 win over Miomir Kecmanovic before suffering a 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-7(4) loss to Brandon Nakashima in the third round.
After his US Open exit, Musetti took some time to rest and recharge and also spend time with his family. The Wimbledon semifinalist and his partner Veronica Confalonieri recently celebrated their son's Baptism, and the latter took to Instagram to share pictures from the occasion.
Lorenzo Musetti: "Becoming a father, a lot of things happened and changed"
Lorenzo Musetti gave an emotional interview after his fourth-round win at Wimbledon 2024, talking about how he never stopped working and believing even after a string of poor results. The Italian said that he needed a little more time to strike a balance between his new life as a father and his professional life.
"It has been almost an year, really challenging, with a lot of new experiences, with pregnancy of my girlfriend, and becoming a father, a lot of things happened and changed so probably I needed more time to find balance on everything but I am really happy because I never stopped working and never stopped believing," Lorenzo Musetti said.
He also thanked his family, and team for pushing him to better himself.
"My team, my family, the people around, people that I love and that I care, pushing me to do better and these are the results," he added.
Musetti has won 34 out of 56 matches so far in the 2024 season, notably reaching the Wimbledon semifinals and clinching the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. The 22-year-old also reached the finals of the cinch Championships and the Croatia Open.
Lorenzo Musetti will next be seen in action at the 2024 Chengdu Open, which begins on September 18, as the second seed. The Italian reached the semifinals of the ATP 250 event in 2023 before suffering a 3-6, 4-6 defeat to eventual runner-up Roman Safiullin.
