In pictures: Nick Kyrgios celebrates brother's wedding with family and friends
Nick Kyrgios and his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi seemed to enjoy quality time at the former's elder brother Christos Kyrgios' wedding to Alicia Gowans earlier today.
The couple welcomed their first child, baby boy George, on June 29, 2022, when Nick was busy fighting his way to his first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon. Christos is a sports coach and part-time CEO of the Nick Kyrgios Foundation, which helps underprivileged youngsters with sporting opportunities. Gowans, on the other hand, is a sports nutritionist and three-time world champion fitness model.
The 20th-ranked player, who is currently recovering from a knee injury, is yet to play his first match of the season.
He took to social media on Friday, February 10, to share a few photographs before his brother's wedding ceremony, in which he can be seen enjoying himself as he helps Christos get ready and poses with Hatzi and other family members.
"WHAT A MOMENT….. CONGRATS Alicia Gowans and Christos Kyrgios," Nick posted in Instagram.
Christos suffers from alopecia universalis, a medical condition in which a person loses all their body hair, including the entire scalp. Along with his role in his younger brother's foundation, he is an ambassador for the Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation to spread awareness about the disease.
Last week, Nick pled guilty in a domestic abuse case involving his ex-girlfriend Chiara Passari. However, the 27-year-old did not face a conviction by the ACT Magistrates Court in Canberra, with the magistrate calling the incident "a single act of stupidity or frustration."
Nick Kyrgios likely to return at Indian Wells
Nick Kyrgios had to pull out of the 2023 Australian Open at the last minute as he suffered a tear in the lateral meniscus of his left leg, with a cyst developing there.
The knee issue has been troubling him for a few months now, with his last tour-level singles match coming at the 2022 Japan Open in October. Before the first Grand Slam event of the year, the World No. 20 withdrew from the United Cup, as well as the Adelaide International 2.
The Aussie successfully underwent surgery on January 23. His manager Daniel Horsfall stated that the player was aiming for his comeback at the 2023 Indian Wells Masters, which will be played from March 8-19.
“The surgery was a great success,” Horsfall said. "We couldn’t have been more pleased with the outcome of it. Now we will be pushing ahead for a speedy recovery and are aiming to see everyone at Indian Wells."
