In Pictures: Rafael Nadal's wife Maria Francisca Perello makes rare appearance as couple spends time off enjoying the sunset in Greece

Rafael Nadal recently shared a glimpse of his getaway in Greece with his wife Maria Francisca Perello. The Spaniard has been out of action since his last appearance at the 2024 French Open, where he lost to Alexander Zverev in the first round.

Nadal has struggled with injuries, missing most of the 2023 season before making his return at the Brisbane Open. However, a 'micro tear' in his hip muscle sidelined him again until the clay season, which proved to be a disappointing one for the Spaniard.

Currently training in Greece at the Rafael Nadal Tennis Center, the 22-time Grand Slam winner took some time off with his wife, Maria Francisca Perello. On his Instagram account, Nadal shared glimpses of their trip, including a picture of the couple posing in front of a sunset.

Rafael Nadal has his eyes set on the Olympics this year, which is likely to be his final appearance at the prestigious event. Last month, Spain's men's tennis team captain David Ferrer announced that Nadal would partner with Carlos Alcaraz in the doubles competition.

Nadal addressed the media following the announcement and stated that he was aiming to be thoroughly prepared to be an ideal partner for the World No. 3.

"I haven’t played doubles for a long time, but Carlos is in a fantastic moment after winning in Paris, so I will try to arrive as best as possible and be as prepared as possible to be a good partner for him,” Nadal said ( via Punto de Break).

Rafael Nadal is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, having won in 2008 in Beijing and 2016 in Rio. Nadal and Alcaraz will be joined by Pablo Carreno Busta, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and Marcel Granollers in the Spanish men's squad for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
