World No. 18 Ugo Humbert shared an affectionate moment with his girlfriend Tessah Andrianjafitrimo after defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the Paris Masters on Thursday. He outsmarted the Spaniard in an engrossing three-setter in the third round, 6-1, 3-6, 7-5.
Humbert and Alcaraz have locked horns thrice on the main tour this year. The Frenchman finally conquered the Spaniard on home soil after failing to beat him in their previous two encounters.
The 26-year-old celebrated the win with an intimate moment with his girlfriend backstage in the Paris Masters. With smiles, the couple hugged and kissed each other as Humbert chalked up one of the biggest wins of his career.
Tessah Andrianjafitrimo also shared a post about her boyfriend with a motivating message after his win.
While the exact date of their relationship is still unclear, it is believed that Andrianjafitrimo and Humbert have been together since their teenage years. The couple had reportedly parted ways in 2020, but quickly rekindled their romance and have been together ever since.
Andrianjafitrimo is also a professional tennis player and a popular name on the ITF circuit. She reached the main draw in Paris thrice in her career but hasn't been able to navigate past the first round. The 26-year-old has captured two titles on the ITF circuit this year in the W75 Le Neubourg and the W35 Vigo event in Spain.
Interestingly, Ugo Humbert and Tessah Andrianjafitrimo participated in the mixed doubles event of the 2018 French Open but lost to Alexander Peya and Nicole Melichar-Martinez in the first round. The Austrian-American pair defeated them in a close three-set match, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.
Ugo Humbert will take on Jordan Thompson in the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters
Fifteenth seed Ugo Humbert will take on Jordan Thompson in the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters on Friday. Thompson leads the head-to-head against the Humbet 1-0 and most recently defeated him in the 2024 Cincinnati Open.
While the Frenchman brushed aside Carlos Alcaraz in the third round, Thompson edged past Adrian Mannarino in a gripping encounter, 7-5, 7-6(5). He won 89% of his first serve points and fired seven aces against Mannarino.
Despite claiming the first set against Thompson in Cincinnati, Humbert lost to the Australian a few months ago. It will be interesting to see if the Frenchman can avenge his defeat this time around in Paris. The winner between the duo will either take on Grigor Dimitrov or Karen Khachanov in the last four.
