Novak Djokovic has been missing in action since winning the gold medal at last month's Paris Olympics. Rest assured, he will end his brief hiatus with an appearance at the upcoming US Open 2024, where he's also the defending champion. The tournament will be held from August 26 to September 8.
The Serb claimed his 24th Major crown in New York last year, further extending his lead among male players, and tying Margaret Court's all-time record as well. He will now aim to gain sole possession of that record by winning his 25th Major title at the season's final Major.
Djokovic will arrive at the US Open without contesting any matches on hardcourts. Following his aforementioned triumph at the Olympics, he pulled out of the Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Open. However, he's set to play a couple of exhibition matches before the start of the tournament.
The 24-time Major champion will team up with John McEnroe for a doubles showdown against Carlos Alcaraz and Andre Agassi. He's also going to compete in a pickleball exhibition event alongside Jannik Sinner and Barbora Krejcikova.
Djokovic is yet to win a Major title this year. His title defense at the Australian Open came to an end in the semifinals, and he withdrew before the quarterfinals of the French Open due to an injury. He reached the Wimbledon final but lost to Alcaraz in a rematch of last year's championship contest.

Novak Djokovic has triumphed at the US Open four times in his career so far. He captured his first title at the venue during his phenomenal 2011 season. He claimed his second title in New York during his stellar 2015 season.
The Serb emerged victorious at the US Open for the third time in 2018 and won his most recent title last year. He's aiming to mount a successful title defense here for the first time. He has also finished as the runner-up on six occasions and has an 88-13 career record at the venue.
He has more than 90 victories at the other three Majors and has a chance to do the same at the US Open as well. He needs to win at least two more matches to accomplish that feat.
Additionally, winning the title would put him on level terms with Roger Federer, Andre Agassi, and Jimmy Connors, who have five titles, an Open Era record. The Serb will be seeded second at this year's US Open and will be placed in the bottom half of the draw.
