"Isn't my old man lovely?" - Venus Williams gushes over 17-year-old pet dog Harry as they share adorable moment together
Venus Williams shared some glimpses of her walk with her pet dog, Harold Reginald. The player gushed over him, sharing his age.
Williams and her dog have been together for seventeen years, and she did not initially plan on getting him. However, she just saw him one day and after asking her sister, Serena Williams, followed her advice of getting the dog.
They are extremely close to each other and do most activities together, like going to the gym and traveling. The 44-year-old takes care of Harold in every way; she collaborated with pet food companies, such as Purina Pro Plan, so that she could take even better steps for him. The American player frequently shares shenanigans of herself and her dog on social media.
Williams recently shared a glance of her walks with Reginald, where she was seen holding her dog in her arms and donned a black crop top paired with light-green colored shorts and white sneakers. Her first story carried a video of both of them together where Venus Williams waved his paws at the camera and wrote:
"Isn't my old man lovely? 17 years young."
The other story captured a picture of both of them posing in front of the camera, and the caption read:
"The boss is always smaller than you think.."
Venus Williams opened up about her bond with her pet dog
In March 2023, Venus Williams sat in an exclusive conversation with People and opened up about her bond with her pet dog, Harold Reginald. She revealed that she is a passionate pet owner, and her dog is her life.
"I'm a passionate pet owner, and my dog is my life," said Williams . "He is the focus of my life. I love the little guy. We've been together 16 years, and he's doing quite great. And one of the reasons why I credit him doing so well is because of his food and what I feed him."
Williams further opened up about the special moments she shared with him:
"He's on my back in the backpack. We've had a lot of special moments exploring Paris together. He didn't know he was seeing a lot of Paris, but he saw a lot of the very special history."
In the same interview, Williams also spoke about how she got Harold in the first place:
"I had not planned on getting a dog. And I just saw this dog one day, and I called my sister and said, 'What should I do? I like this dog.' And she said, 'Get him. I love him already.' And so it was the best decision and best advice I ever got."
Venus Williams played just two tournaments this year, the Indian Wells Masters and the Miami Open. In the former one, she faced an early exit after being defeated by Nao Hibino in round one with a score of 2-6, 6-3, 6-0. The 44-year-old faced the same fate in the Miami Open, as she unfortunately lost in the very first round against Diana Shnaider with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
