"It was for his daughter"; "How can they boo?"- Novak Djokovic fans upset as Wimbledon crowd seemingly rejects violin celebration after SF win

A section of fans online expressed unhappiness at seeing a group of spectators on Center Court not appreciate Novak Djokovic's violin celebration following his semifinal triumph at Wimbledon 2024. The Serb appeared in good spirits as he defeated Italy's Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets.

The 37-year-old had said after his third-round win against Alexei Poyrin that he did the violin celebration for his daughter Tara, who just started learning the instrument. Djokovic also discussed his musical connection with his children during an interview for Vogue magazine, mentioning that they have formed a band.

The 24-time Major champion celebrated similarly after his semifinal triumph by mimicking playing the violin with his racket, much to his daughter's delight, who enjoyed her father's actions. While some appreciated his actions, a group of spectators on Center Court did not respond well, reacting with jeers. However, the Serb continued unfazed.

You can watch the video of Djokovic's celebration below:

Many fans on X disapproved of the jeers, with one fan questioning the crowd's behavior and writing:

"Not for the crowd. His daughter just started playing violin. How can they boo a tribute given to a child?"

Novak Djokovic is set to face World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz in a rematch of last year's Wimbledon final. The Serb missed the lead-up tournaments to the grass-court Major due to a knee injury but has shown promise by reaching his 37th Grand Slam singles final.

The 37-year-old defeated Vit Kopriva, Jacob Fearnley, Alexei Popyrin, and Holger Rune before receiving a walkover victory due to Alex de Minaur's withdrawal. He then beat Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz defeated Mark Lajal, Aleksandar Vukic, Frances Tiafoe, Ugo Humbert, Tommy Paul, and Daniil Medvedev to set up his sixth encounter against Novak Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic holds a narrow 3-2 lead in the head-to-head against Alcaraz, having won their most recent encounter in the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, Italy. While the Spaniard aims to defend his Wimbledon title, Djokovic is vying for his 25th Major overall and his first title of 2024.
