"It's all in the family" - Coco Gauff proudly unveils a new kids edition of her sneaker collection designed by younger brother Cameron Gauff

Coco Gauff was a proud sister as she showed off the first ever kids tennis shoes created for her collaboration with New Balance. She revealed that her 9-year-old brother Cameron was the brains behind the design.

Gauff has been a New Balance ambassador since she was just 14. After signing an extension with the brand in 2022, the American revealed her signature Coco CG 1 performance tennis shoes.

She recently expressed her excitement for the new "pineapples, roses and dragonflies"-inspired colorway edition being added to her sneaker collection.

During an interview with People magazine, Gauff outlined how the execution of the new Cam Bams CG 1 Kids colorway edition came about. It all began when a New Balance product designer provided a 'How to Make a Sneaker' book to her younger brother Cameron.

Shortly after, Cameron submitted drawings and color schemes to the company.

Coco Gauff showed off the fruits of her brother's labor on social media.

"It's all in the family. Excited to share Cam Bams CG1 kids colorway," Gauff wrote on Twitter.

Coco Gauff opened up about her brother Cameron's excitement at being part of the design process for the new kids edition of her CG1 sneaker collection with New Balance.

"He was really excited. I think he kind of sensed [what would happen] in a way because they asked him to draw on this shoe and then for the paper, so he's young, but he kind of put two and two together," Gauff said.

The 18-year-old said that her brother's design process was simple, as he just followed his instincts as kids do. He simply chose colors that he thought looked cool together.

"I asked him about that and he said it was, 'Just what I was feeling,'" she said.
"I think that's just like what's fun about being a kid in general. As you get older, you tend to overthink things. But I feel like kids really trust their first instinct and that's kind of what he did. He just said he just thought the colors look cool together."

Coco Gauff will be back in action at the 2023 Indian Wells Open. She will be looking to better her performance from last year when she exited the tournament in the Round of 32 after a straight sets defeat to Simona Halep.

The American holds a 11-3 win-loss record this season and won her first title of 2023 at the ASB Classic in January.
