Jessica Pegula shared a picture in memory of her late dog, Dexter, months after his passing away on July 27, 2023.
Pegula wrapped up her 2024 season after competing in the WTA Finals, where she had to make a shocking mid-tournament withdrawal prior to the match against Iga Swiatek, citing an injury. She did not win any of her matches in the tournament and lost to Gauff in the very first round with a score of 6-3, 6-2. Following this, she squared off against Barbora Krejcikova with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
Ahead of this, Pegula also competed in the US Open and reached the finals but fell short of attaining the title as Aryna Sabalenka defeated her with a score of 7-5, 7-5. 2023 was not a good year for Pegula personally, as she lost her dog, Dexter, in July of that year, and she mourned his loss by sharing adorable pictures in his memory.
Currently, in her off-season, Pegula shared a picture on her Instagram story, which carried a close shot of Dexter's face with his tongue out and Pegula peeking from behind.

Jessica Pegula and her husband, Taylor Gahagen, also have two other dogs in their family, a chocolate-colored Labrador, Tucker, and an Australian shepherd, Maddie.
