John McEnroe's brother Patrick hits out at "fellow tennis player" after receiving hateful remark about "riding on the coat tails" of his brother
John McEnroe's brother Patrick took a dig at one of his fans for sharing a hateful comment. The user criticized him by saying that he was riding on the coattails of his brother.
This started when Patrick McEnroe shared a tweet on X about being back on News Nation and spoke about his NFL picks, to which a follower replied that he had made a lot of money through his NFL picks. The user also stated that he still had John's sweat-drenched Nike shirt.
"I will reluctantly check it out. I have made a lot of money betting against your NFL picks. I still have your brothers sweat drenched Nike shirt he threw into the crowd at the US Open. Happy days. Framed," tweeted the user.
Following this, John McEnroe's brother replied to the user, saying:
"Really? I'm 21-11 this year so far"
This tweet received an unexpected reply from a fan whose bio said that he was a tennis professional. He took a dig at McEnroe by saying that he was riding on the "coattails" of his brother and also added that he couldn't make a difference on his own.
"Your riding on the coat tails of your Brothers Solid life and name of Commercial Acceptance. Now you want to keep as political? Throwing your dumb ass out anywhere for reasons.. You had your chances to make a difference on your own... Now its just sad."
Patrick McEnroe slammed this follower with a short, sarcastic tweet on X:
"Wow such nice comments from a fellow tennis person. All the best to you my friend. 👍👍👏👏🥎🥎 "
"Deal with a lot of crap being John McEnroe's younger brother"- Patrick McEnroe opened up about his journey
John McEnroe's brother, Patrick, sat for a virtual conversation in an episode of the Tennis Channel's 'Inside-in' podcast on November 10, 2023, where he opened up about his journey of loving tennis and being the former American tennis player, John's little brother.
Patrick revealed the struggles he went through because of being a famous player's brother.
"Just being around tennis, that was really number one. It was and in fact as I got older my brother became famous it was actually more of a challenge being John's brother," said Patrick.
He continued:
"You know, because he was so famous and because I wasn't as quite as good as him, although I got to be a pro, which, as I'm learning in my years now at our tennis academy that ended of itself is hugely difficult to accomplish so but over the years as I was growing up, I kind of looked myself in the mirror a lot and say you know 'why am I doing this?' Because I had to deal with a lot of crap, you know being John's younger brother. But at the end of the day, because I love the game, I love the sport, and I was pretty good at."
John McEnroe recently thanked his brother for taking care of him during the Laver Cup and called him his right hand.
