Katie Boulter makes honest admission about going against new fiance Alex de Minaur and & his Team Australia at United Cup
Katie Boulter spoke candidly about facing her fiancé, Alex de Minaur, and the Australian team at the 2025 United Cup. The couple has been together for over four years, having started dating in March 2020, and announced their engagement earlier this month.
Great Britain, Australia, and Argentina are in Group F, whose matches are being held at the Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney. The Australian team faced Argentina first and lost 2-1, with their only win coming from De Minaur defeating Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-1, 6-4.

During the post-match press conference following Great Britain's win over Argentina, Katie Boulter was asked about her feelings ahead of the British team's match against Australia and her potential face-off with her fiancé, Alex de Minaur, in the mixed doubles rubber.
In response, Boulter expressed that playing against her fiancé is "tough" but she won't be satisfied until she secures a victory. She said that she is looking forward to a "battle."
“I mean, it's a tough situation. It is. It's a tough one. He was smiling when I came off the court because we kept them in it, so he's happy. I'm not going to be happy until I win. Yeah, I'm just looking forward to a battle," Boulter said.
The World No. 24 also mentioned that both she and De Minaur are competitive and will give their all to secure a win.
“Look, I don't know what's going to happen on the day. I just have to keep my head down and try not to think too much about it, but we're both going to be fighting for it. We both want it. We both are competitive. No matter what happens, we're still going to go home happy. That's all that matters," she added.
Katie Boulter, along with Billy Harris, Jan Choinski, Lily Miyazaki, Charles Broom, and Olivia Nicholls, make up the British team. On the other hand, Alex de Minaur, alongside Olivia Gadecki, Omar Jasika, Destanee Aiava, Matthew Ebden, and Ellen Perez are representing Australia.
Katie Boulter on facing Alex de Minaur at United Cup 2025: "I wouldn't say that I was thrilled at the idea of playing him"
During an interview with Sky Sports ahead of the 2025 United Cup, Katie Boulter expressed that she is not thrilled at the idea of potentially playing against Alex de Minaur.
"I wouldn't say that I was thrilled at the idea of playing him all over again. He's a top 10 player and he knows how to play tennis so there is one side of it, there is a personal side of it as well which is difficult but also great for bragging rights. I'm looking forward to the match of course," Katie Boulter said.
Following the conclusion of their campaign at the United Cup, Boulter and De Minaur are expected to compete at the 2025 Australian Open which is scheduled to take place from January 12 to January 26, 2025.
De Minaur's best performance at the Melbourne Major was reaching the fourth round in 2022, 2023, and 2024, while Katie Boulter's best result was reaching the second round in 2019 and 2024.
