Katie Boulter turns boyfriend Alex de Minaur’s fan; Brit cheers Aussie on during US Open 1R
Katie Boulter cheered her boyfriend Alex de Minaur on during his first-round win against Marcos Giron at the 2024 US Open. The Aussie ousted the American 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 in three hours and 29 minutes.
Boulter and De Minaur have established themselves as a tennis power couple this season having won two titles each. Coincidentally, the Aussie's Acapulco triumph and the Brit's San Diego triumph almost came within a day, and his triumph in 's-Hertogenbosch and her triumph in Nottingham also almost came within a day.
The tennis couple is very supportive of each other and can often be seen cheering on their better halves during their respective campaigns.
Alex De Minaur and Katie Boulter are currently competing at the 2024 US Open. While the Brit staged an impressive comeback against Aliaksandra Sasnovich to win 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, her boyfriend ousted Marcos Giron to reach the second.
After her opening-round win, Boulter was spotted cheering her boyfriend on during his win. The US Open and the Brit shared a story on Instagram where the tournament wrote,
"Katie leading Alex's fan base."
The Brit also posted another story of de Minaur getting in position to play a backhand during the match.
Alex de Minaur will play Otto Virtanen, while Katie Boulter will face Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the second round of the 2024 US Open
10th seed Alex de Minaur will play Otto Virtanen in the second round at Flushing Meadows, in what will be the first meeting between the two men. The Finnish qualifier defeated Quentin Halys 6-3, 6-3, (4)6-7, 6-2 in his opening round to get the second Grand Slam main draw win of his career.
The winner of their match will play the winner of the match between Mariano Navone and Dan Evans in the third round. The Aussie is placed in the third seed Carlos Alcaraz's quarter.
On the other hand, his girlfriend Katie Boulter, 31st seed will face Jesicca Bouzas Maneiro in the second round, which will be another first-time meeting. The Spaniard decimated Petra Martic 6-3, 6-0 in just an hour and three minutes.
The winner of their match will play either sixth seed Jessica Pegula or Sofia Kenin in the third round of the US Open.
