Teams will look to gain an edge on Day 2 of the Laver Cup 2024 on Saturday, September 21. Plenty of stars were there to witness the drama on the tournament's first day, which ended in a stalemate with the score tied at 2-2.
Francisco Cerundolo gave Team World the early upper hand courtesy of a 6-4, 6-4 win over Casper Ruud. Stefanos Tsitsipas stepped in to level the terms for Team Europe with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Thanasi Kokkinakis.
Grigor Dimitrov's 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2) victory over Alejandro Tabilo put the Europeans in the lead. However, the American duo of Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton defeated Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev 7-6 (5), 6-4 to end the day on an even footing, ensuring Team World's title defense remained on track.
Daniil Medvedev and Frances Tiafoe will take to the court on Saturday in the first match of the day, followed by Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton. Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz will renew their rivalry as they will kick off the night session.
Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas will take on Ben Shelton and Alejandro Tabilo in the final match of the day. Each match is worth two points on the second day, so both teams will look to gain a healthy lead going into the final day.
