Laver Cup 2024 will be played at the Uber Arena in Berlin, starting on September 20. This will mark the seventh edition of the tournament and the final one featuring Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe as captains of Team Europe and Team World, respectively. Additionally, this is the first time the exhibition event will take place in Germany.
Team World, the reigning champions, will enter the competition with a strong roster. Last year, they secured the title with a dominant 13-2 victory. Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton, and Francisco Cerundolo were all on the team at the time and will feature in this year's edition as well. Additionally, the team will welcome two debutants, Alejandro Tabilo and Thanasi Kokkinakis, to the action in Berlin.
Fritz and Tiafoe will enter the event in Berlin following impressive US Open campaigns. While the former reached his maiden Grand Slam final, the latter made it to the semifinals.
Rafael Nadal was initially supposed to compete in the tournament, but he has withdrawn. Despite his absence, Team Europe boasts a formidable lineup that positions them as strong contenders for their fifth Laver Cup title. Carlos Alcaraz will make his debut in the tournament, while Alexander Zverev will appear in his fifth edition.
Stefanos Tsitsipas will appear in his fourth edition of the competition, while Daniil Medvedev will feature for the second time, as will Grigor Dimitrov and Casper Ruud. The latter is the only member of Team Europe who participated in the 2023 Laver Cup.
Dimitrov, who reached the quarterfinals of the US Open, will return to the tournament six years after his first appearance in 2018.
