"Like training with Bastian Schweinsteiger" - Ana Ivanovic pokes fun at husband over Ons Jabeur's display of football skills during Wimbledon practice

Ons Jabeur's spontaenous demonstration of her football skills during a practice session at Wimbledon has elicited a hilarious response from Ana Ivanovic. The Serb took the opportunity to poke fun at her husband, former German footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger, for not taking his tennis training sessions seriously.

After retiring mid-match against Coco Gauff due to illness during the ecotrans Ladies Open in Berlin, Jabeur dispelled concerns about her health as she appeared in high spirits during her latest practice session at the grasscourt Major.

The World No. 10 took a break from her training to show off her football skills, effortlessly juggling the tennis ball with her feet before finishing off with a header.

Ana Ivanovic took notice of Ons Jabeur's display and humorously compared it to her own training sessions with her husband Bastian Schweinsteiger, which inevitably resulted in him flaunting his football skills instead of focusing on tennis.

"Looks like a training session with @BSchweinsteiger 😅🎾," she posted on X.

Ivanovic has persistently attempted to train Schweinsteiger in tennis, revealing last year that the German required a lot of practice despite showing signs of improvement.

"It's getting better and better, but we still need a lot of training," she commented on X.

Meanwhile, Ons Jabeur's preparations for Wimbledon haven't been ideal. Prior to her retirement in Berlin, the Tunisian competed at the Rothesay Open in Nottingham, suffering a narrow three-set loss to Karolina Pliskova in the quarterfinals.

The World No. 10 will be on the hunt for her maiden Grand Slam title at the grasscourt Major after two back-to-back heartbreaking runner-up finishes at SW19.

Ons Jabeur recently admitted that her devastating loss to Marketa Vondrousova in last year's Wimbledon final had delayed her and her husband Karim Kamoun's plans to start a family, as she wanted to have children after winning her maiden Grand Slam title.

Speaking to Sky Sports during her recent campaign in Nottingham, the World No. 10 disclosed that while it would be "tough" to return to the grasscourt Major after her sad memories of 2023, she is looking forward to competing in her personal "paradise."

"I think it's going to be a tough moment coming back, but also a nice moment. The last time I walked off the court at Wimbledon, it was really sad and I was really crying, so I hope I don't get those memories back. But I'm really looking forward to playing at Wimbledon. It's one of those places which is my own paradise," Ons Jabeur said.

The main draw action of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships will commence on July 1.
