"Love this" - Novak Djokovic's wife Jelena welcomes Andy Murray "to the club" as the Brit discloses his fondness for Harry Potter
Andy Murray recently disclosed his fondness for the Harry Potter books. Upon knowing this, Novak Djokovic's wife Jelena expressed her happiness and welcomed the Brit into the franchise's fan club.
Murray recently arrived in the Olympic Village with the British Contingent. Following his arrival, the 37-year-old announced that the 2024 Summer Games would be his final event before retirement.
Ahead of his final campaign at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Murray was featured in a video posted by the ATP Tour's official Instagram handle where numerous tennis stars, including him, were asked to recommend a film or a book of their liking.
When asked, the three-time Major champion said that he completed the third Harry Potter book recently. Murray shared that although he was not an avid reader, he read the book because of his children's interest and enjoyed it.
"Seeing as this is random. I just finished reading the third Harry Potter book. I'm not a massive reader, but my children started reading them about six months ago. I have a terrible imagination, and I've never been into that sort of stuff, but I really enjoyed it and properly got into it."
Jelena Djokovic reacted to the clip in the comments and wrote that she was curious to know what people were fond of reading. She loved how Andy Murray got into the Harry Potter series and welcomed him to the club.
"Love this!!! im quite curious about what people love to read and why - and theyβve shared some really good reads. π love how Andy got into HP books πππ welcome to the club! haha," she wrote.
Andy Murray withdrew from the singles competition in the 2024 Paris Olympics, will play doubles
Andy Murray has pulled out of the singles competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics, meaning his swansong will be in the doubles competition. The Brit underwent back surgery a few days before his participation at Wimbledon 2024 and withdrew from the singles competition there as well.
The 37-year-old is going to play the doubles alongside Dan Evans. While addressing the media at Thursday's draw, Murray described his decision as "unfortunate", since he had prepared to play at both the singles and doubles competitions. The Brit added that due to his advancing age, recovering from the injuries would be more difficult.
"The Olympics has been incredibly special for me and there have been some amazing memories on the court β particularly in London. I'm happy I get to do this one more time. It's unfortunate [not playing in singles] - I trained to get ready to play both, but I'm getting a bit older now so it gets harder to recover from injuries. I ran out of time," Andy Murray said ( Via BBC).
Aside from Murray and Evans, the likes of Cameron Norrie and Jack Draper will also represent Britain's men's team in the 2024 Summer Games. Tennis at the Paris Olympics will start on Saturday, July 27.
