Although Madison Keys and Bjorn Fratangelo started dating in 2017, it was only after Fratangelo's relentless pursuit that the 28-year-old finally decided to play mixed doubles with her boyfriend.

The duo locked horns with Ellen Perez and Marcelo Demoliner in the first round of the 2021 US Open. They lost in straight sets. However, Keys had nothing but positive memories from the match.

“Of all the memories you have of all the matches, it’s obviously the people you are with who make those moments. To be able to have a moment on court together I think is definitely something that is going to stick in my mind,” she said after the match.

Keys divulged that she was always nervous about pairing up with Fratangelo. However, he eventually convinced her, saying they would "just have some fun."

“He finally wore me down. I was always just saying I was going to be so nervous and I was going to have to try so hard, but he finally said, ‘We’ll just have some fun.’ I’m very happy that we did it,” she added.

Madison Keys was last seen in action at the Dubai Tennis Championships, where she endured a quarter-final exit at the hands of compatriot Coco Gauff.
