Maria Sharapova shares her whopping achievement with fiance Alexander Gilkes from the couple's recent getaway
Former World No. 1 Maria Sharapova recently shared an achievement from her trip to Montenegro. The 37-year-old was accompanied by her fiance, Alexander Gilkes, on the getaway.
Sharapova was regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of her time. The Russian won five Majors and 36 WTA titles during her illustrious career. Moreover, she is one of the only six women in the open era to have achieved a career slam.
Sharapova has been in a relationship with Alexander Gilkes, the co-founder of Sqaured Circles studio, since 2018. The couple announced their engagement in 2020 and welcomed their son Theodore, two years later.
The couple have enjoyed numerous getaways together in the past, sharing highlights from their trip. They are currently vacationing in Montenegro and some highlights from the trip were shared by Gilkes in his Instagram story. The Brit also shared his experience of a beautiful restaurant situated at the bay of Kotor.
"One of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever visited: a old Montenegrin mill house set between River fed-ponds, the bay of Kotor and steep mountain cliffs," he wrote.
However, to experience the scenic beauty of Montenegro, Maria Sharapova had to do a lot of walking. The Russian shared a screenshot on Instagram showing that she had completed over 18,000 steps during her outing. She also tagged Gilkes in the story.

Alexander Gilkes made Maria Sharapova's birthday special with a gift
Earlier this year, Alexander Gilkes gifted Sharapova with balloons on her 37th birthday. The Brit also shared a picture of his fiance holding the balloons on his Instagram story and added a heartfelt birthday wish.
“Happy birthday My love @mariasharapova,” Gilkes captioned the image.
Sharapova also enjoyed a trip to Spain as a part of her pre-birthday celebrations. The former World No. 1 shared her experience traveling from Getaria to San Sebastian on Instagram.
"Eating ( so much eating!! 😳)and walking (very little walking in ratio to eating 😅) our way through San Sebastian for a little pre birthday getaway. 🍄🟫 The cheesecake at La Vina alone was worth every bit of jet lag," Maria Sharapova wrote
Sharapova played her final match at the 2020 Australian Open. The Russian received a wild card entry into the hardcourt Major and faced Croatia's Donna Vekic in the first round. However, she lost to the then-19th-seeded Vekic 6-3, 6-4.
