Martina Navratilova calls out "undecided" voters ahead of US presidential election; hints at possibility of them being "closet Donald Trump voters"
Martina Navratilova has criticized voters who are yet to decide if they will cast their votes for Donald Trump or Kamala Harris during the 2024 US presidential elections. According to Navratilova, these voters may actually be closet supporters of Trump.
Navratilova is one of the most vocal critics of the former U.S. President in the world of tennis owing to her opposition to Republican stances and policies. For this year's US presidential elections, the former World No. 1 in both women's singles and doubles has blatanly voiced her opposition towards Trump and support for Harris.
Recently, prominent author and columnist Michael Harriot, whose work has appeared in The Washington Post, NBC and other prominent news publications, took to X (formerly Twitter) and urged the American media to either refrain from airing the views of "undecided voters" or criticize them over what he perceives to be their stupidity.
"At this point, the media must either stop telling us what “undecided voters” think or call them what they are: Stupid voters," Harriot wrote.
Martina Navratilova reshared Harriot's post and opined that the people who are yet to decide over voting for Trump or Harris may in reality be "closet Trump voters". The 18-time Grand Slam singles champion said that these voters are likely to be "pretending" so as to make the media want to know about their opinions on the upcoming presidential elections.
"Or closet trump voters and they are just pretending they are undecided so someone from the media will want to talk to them," Navratilova wrote.
Martina Navratilova also poked fun at Donald Trump recently after reports surfaced about the former US President shying away from future debates with political rival Kamala Harris.
Donald Trump's reported reluctance to engage in further debates with Kamala Harris prompted Martina Navratilova to ridicule the former US President
Prominent lawyer and legal commentator Tristan Snell recently reported on X that Donald Trump is not open to more presidential debates with Kamala Harris, the presidential candidate fielded for this year's elections by the Democrats. This development came in the aftermath of Trump's perceived poor showing in an ABC debate with Harris on Tuesday, September 10.
Subsequently, Martina Navratilova couldn't help but poke fun at the former President. The former World No. 1 reshared Snell's post on X and used seven chicken emojis as the caption, clearly suggesting that Trump lacks the courage to face Harris again for a debate.
Navratilova had earlier promoted pop icon Taylor Swift's endorsement of Kamala Harris for the upcoming presidential elections. Swift, via a lengthy Instagram post, had announced that she would be casting her vote for Harris.
