Martina Navratilova condemns 'dangerous' surge in teenage girls 'de-sexualizing' themselves with chest reconstruction surgery
Martina Navratilova has condemned the rising trend of chest reconstruction surgeries among young girls. Her remarks followed concerns raised by an online platform regarding a "National Lottery-funded" film that portrays a girl transitioning into a boy.
A page on X called 'Adam Brooks AKA EssexPR' shared a clip from the movie and expressed concern that its concept could negatively impact children in the United Kingdom.
"UK school children will have their minds poisoned by this National Lottery funded film featuring a girl that ‘becomes’ a boy, normalising chest binders and sex change drugs.THERE IS NOTHING NORMAL ABOUT THIS, IT’S ENCOURAGING HARM," they wrote.

"20 years ago I literally never heard of women/teenager girls cutting off their healthy breasts. Now it’s commonplace and it is celebrated…😳This is a social contagion and is so fucking dangerous. Girls trying to de-sexualize themselves thinking this is a solution…," she re-shared the post and wrote.
When Martina Navratilova lauded a transgender athlete for stepping back from competing in women's sports
In October of last year, transgender golfer Nicole Powers announced to step back from competing in women's sports after recognizing the "biological realities." Martina Navratilova appreciated this decision later.
Speaking to Outkick, Powers acknowledged that despite undergoing several hormonal treatments and surgeries, she would still retain physical advantages over other women, which led to her decision to step away from women's sports.
"I had to take a step back and realize that biological realities are real and competitive advantages will always exist despite the number of years or whatever surgeries and hormones you've done, and then understood that my place is not in women's sports," Powers said in an interview with Outkick," she said.
She backed her decision adding:
"In the back of my head this entire couple years, I was playing in professional tournaments, I knew I wouldn't feel right if I did take awards [from women]," Powers added.
Martina Navratilova, a staunch advocate of women's sports, lauded Powers' decision, sharing a report from Daily Mail on X:
