Martina Navratilova delighted by Donald Trump meme reimagining former US President as Oompa Loompa from 'Charlie & The Chocolate Factory'

Martina Navratilova was recently left in splits after a meme of Donald Trump surfaced, potraying the former US President and 2024 presidential candidate as a beloved character from Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. Navratilova, a fierce Trump critic, for once refrained from criticizing the 78-year-old. The meme itself stemmed from Trump's political move to dress up as a garbage collector after a controversial statement from Joe Biden.

A recent Donald Trump-led Republican gathering at Madison Square Garden stirred controversy after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage". Things became more complicated when current US President Joe Biden issued his own response to the developments.

While on a video call, Biden referred to Trump's supporters as "garbage", leading to them swiftly turning on the President. Trump himself took full advantage of the situation and in his latest rally, drove a garbage truck and even sported a garbage collector's uniform. Not long after, a meme made its way to X (formerly Twitter), showcasing the former President as an Oompa Loompa.

In the 2005 film, 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', Oompa Loompas were small humans who worked for Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Martina Navratilova, a former World No. 1 and 18-time singles Grand Slam champion, was quick to take notice of the meme. Navratilova soon posted her brief reaction to the meme on X, writing:

"Ha"

Earlier, Martina Navratilova had slammed Donald Trump over his intellect after the former US President verbally attacked John Kelly, his longest serving chief of staff.

Donald Trump recently took a jibe at John Kelly, his longest serving chief of staff who worked alongside him from 2017 to 2019. In his swipe at the former US Marine Corps General, Trump questioned Kelly's intellect. This stemmed from Kelly alleging in an audio interview with The New York Times that some of Trump's traits resemble that of a fascist.

Trump referred to the 74-year-old as a "low IQ" individual, and this did not go down well with Martina Navratilova. The former World No. 1, upon taking notice of the former President's swipe at Kelly, lambasted Trump on X, writing:

"I know who is a low IQ guy and he wears a lot of orange makeup"

Navratilova had also reacted furiously to the Madison Square Garden gathering of Republicans and their supporters. The Czech-American claimed that she would not want to be friends with people who chose to vote for Trump in the 2024 elections.
