Martina Navratilova endorses J. K. Rowling's bold claim about women not benefiting from having men in their spaces
Martina Navratilova recently endorsed J. K. Rowling's brutally honest take on whether women would benefit from having men in their spaces. The renowned author aired her views on the subject amid a raging debate within US politics, in which one side is batting for transgender women to have access to women's restrooms and the other side is against the idea.
Recently, there has been a heated back-and-forth between US Representatives Nancy Mace and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Mace, a Republican, has proposed a resolution that, if passed, will see transgender women banned from using restrooms for biological women in the US Capitol.
Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat, has voiced her opposition to the proposed resolution. Mace's move is reportedly an attack on transgender Democrat Sarah McBride, who is set to become a fellow US Representative come January. This ongoing clash has led to a larger discussion surrounding the idea of transgender women having access to spaces reserved for biological women.
Amid these developments, an X user asked:
"What is the benefit to women & girls of having males in their spaces?"
J. K. Rowling soon replied to the user. In her answer, the renowned author and philanthropist opined that there are no benefits to it whatsoever. She also went on to take a sarcastic swipe at those who are okay with the idea.
"Zero. However, there's certainly a benefit to simpering that you're completely fine with it, can't see what the issue is and calling women who disagree fascists, or we wouldn't be seeing so many wealthy, famous, protected women throwing vulnerable women under the bus," Rowling wrote.
Former World No. 1 Martina Navratilova, a fierce critic of the idea of allowing transgender women and males into spaces reserved for biological women, endorsed Rowling's take by reposting it.
Martina Navratilova reposting Rowling's blunt take on the subject comes on the back of the tennis legend lashing out at Chris Cuomo over the television personality referring to Mace and Ocasio-Cortez's ongoing feud as a 'game'.
Martina Navratilova slammed Chris Cuomo for using the word 'game' amid feud between Nancy Mace and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Prominent television anchor journalist Chris Cuomo recently went on a lengthy rant about how US Representatives Mace and Ocasio-Cortez are playing a "game." According to Cuomo, issues that are actually affecting people adversely in the country are being ignored. He also seemed to dismiss the issue of transgender women's access to women's restrooms in the US Capitol.
"We call out the game. What game? The game that is the toxic battle to the bottom for the two political parties, constantly looking for personal takedowns of the other, often picking issues that do nothing to make anything better that matters to most of us," Cuomo said.
"And that's how I see this Mace vs AOC madness. Madness, because it's literally insane to think that these two, who represent districts with real problems should be this focused and this heated about who gets to p**s with them," Cuomo added.
Martina Navratilova did not see eye-to-eye with Cuomo, and labeled his take "ignorant".
