Martina Navratilova makes her feelings known on Canadian MP labeling Donald Trump 'a juvenile' over US President-elect's 'idiotic behavior’

Martina Navratilova is one of the most successful women's singles tennis players of all-time. Having retired in 2006, the American continues to enjoy a large fan base, and often uses her platform to voice her political opinions.

Most recently, the tennis star expressed her agreement with Canadian MP Charlie Angus, as the latter labeled US President-elect Donald Trump ‘a juvenile' based on the latter’s laws regarding tariffs.

On Monday, Trump threatened to impose a 25 percent tariff on all products entering the USA from Canada and Mexico starting from January 20, 2025, his inauguration day, unless those countries curbed the flow of drugs and migrants across their borders. Reacting to this, Angus made his opinions on the President-elect's announcement clear.

An X account quoted the Canadian MP’s views, writing,

“Canadian MP Charlie Angus slams Trump over his proposed tariffs: “Trump is a different kind of animal. He’s playing for the rage algorithm…We’re going to have tough negotiations…but this kind of dismissive, idiotic behavior? I mean, he’s a juvenile.”

Responding to this, Martina Navratilova wrote on X,

“This guy tells it like it is"

This isn't the first time Martina Navratilova has made her displeasure about Donald Trump and his policies surrounding tariffs known. In October, the tennis star got into a discussion with an X user, with the user writing that the Biden/Harris administration was responsible for the USA’s high level of inflation.

“I know he (Trump) had zero to do with inflation. Everyone knows he didn’t cause inflation to go from 1.4% when he left office to 9%. That’s on Biden/Harris. Trump had one of the best economies. If he didn’t crater it then why would he do it when he is elected? Toy try again.”

Responding to this, Navratilova labelled the Trump's tariffs proposals a ‘disaster in the making’, writing,

“That’s because Covid had not caught up yet with inflation. That is way down now and the tariffs he is proposing are a disaster in the making as per economists. Stock market is soaring , gas is down, grocery prices down. Jobs are up. Anything else?

As a tennis player, Martina Navratilova first rose to prominence in the late 1970’s when she made multiple appearances in the finals of Grand Slam events. In 1978, the American stormed to her first major title, winning the Wimbledon Championships after defeating Chris Evert. Navratilova would go on to win 17 more singles major titles.
