Martina Navratilova points out where Kamala Harris and Democrats seemingly went wrong after persistent calls for trans exclusion in women's sports

Martina Navratilova has been an advocate of women's rights and has often spoken out against transgender athletes competing in women's sports. The tennis great recently spoke on how the democrats could protect women's rights.

Navratilova shared a declaration regarding women's rights and how the Democratic Party (currently in power in the United States for the time being) could change their policies. The declaration covered several points that included women's right to single-sex spaces, including restrooms, locker rooms, and the omission of transgender individuals who identify as women from those spaces.

It also covered the exclusion of transgender athletes in women's sports.

Martina Navratilova shared the declaration on social media and called for Kamala Harris' Democratic Party to "get behind" it.

"Dems need to get behind this. And fast," the 68-year-old wrote.

One user agreed with Navratilova, stating that the Republicans' gender ideology was "transphobia" while also adding that the Democrats needed to protect the transgender people without compromising fairness for women.

"Yes. The GOP “rejection” gender ideology is nothing but transphobia. They don’t care about kids, whether they’re gender questioning or gay, they sure don’t care about women. Dems need to avow protect for trans people while ensuring fairness for women," the user said.

Navratilova agreed with the user, stating:

"Exactly what I have been saying for years, it can be done," the 68-year-old said.

Navratilova has often been very critical of Donald Trump and has also been very vocal of the same on social media.

Martina Navratilova was far from pleased with Donald Trump winning the recently-concluded Presidential elections and stated that "fear and anger won". The 68-year-old also said that the United States was a "racist patriarchy".

"Well, Trump won. Fear and anger won. And a country that was born as a racist patriarchy proved beyond any reasonable doubt it still is a racist patriarchy. Not sure when this ceases to be true," the Czech-American said.

The 68-year-old had an illustrious career in tennis, during which she won a total of 59 Grand Slam titles across singles and doubles. Navratilova won 18 Major singles titles, half of which came at Wimbledon alone.

In doubles, she won 41 Majors, completing the Calendar Slam in 1984, when Pam Shriver was her partner.
