Martina Navratilova reacts to contrast between Kamala Harris addressing gun violence, abortion during Oprah interview & Donald Trump's 'enemy' remark

Martina Navratilova has reacted to a comparison between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, which shed light on the differences between the actions of the rival US presidential candidates on the night of Thursday, September 19. On one hand, Harris touched on important social issues during a national TV appearance with Oprah Winfrey, while on the other hannd, Trump made controversial remarks at the Israeli American Council (IAC).

As the US elections inch closer, tennis legend Martina Navratilova has made her political position loud and clear. The 67-year-old, who is a vocal critic of Donald Trump, has already taken multiple swipes at the former US President in the buildup to the elections, and she was at it again after she took notice of what Harris and Trump were respectively up to on the night of September 19.

Current US Vice President Kamala Harris was on national television on Thursday night for an interview with Oprah Winfrey. The 59-year-old spoke to gun violence survivors, the family of a woman who passed away under an abortion ban and residents of Pennsylvania with economic concerns.

Roundabout the same time, Donald Trump was speaking at the IAC, where the former President courted controversy yet again by saying that American Jews would be responsible if he went on to lose the elections.

"If I don't win this election, then the Jewish people would really have a lot to do with that if that happens, because at 40% (percentage of Jewish voters), that means 60% of the people are voting for the enemy," Trump said.

Ian Sams, a spokesperson of Kamala Harris, shared the video of Donald Trump making the controversial remarks on X (formerly Twitter) and compared how the two political rivals had spent Thursday night. Martina Navratilova took notice of Sams' post and reshared it with the caption:

"Yeah. Quite the contrast..."

Navratilova's latest swipe at Trump comes on the back of her criticism of the former US President following the death of a woman in Georgia reportedly because of the state's abortion laws; the same woman whose family Harris reached out to during her appearance on national television with Oprah.

After news broke recently about Amber Thurman's reported death due to the anti-abortion laws in effect in the state of Georgia, a furious Martina Navratilova lashed out at Trump via a post on X. The 67-year-old bemoaned the tragic passing of Thurman and expressed her disgust over what she perceives Trump has done to the United States.

"This is all on Trump and his sycophantic SCOTUS judges. All three lied when questioned about Roe- they all said it’s settled law - Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Coney Barrett; now healthy women are dying. I hate what they have done to our country. Psychopaths by proxy is who they are," Navratilova wrote.

It wasn't the first time that the former World No. 1 had used the term 'psychopath' to describe Trump. She had used it in July this year in the aftermath of Trump surviving a heinous assassination attempt, which led to the death of one person who was attending the former US President's rally.

At the time, Navratilova's use of the term stemmed from Trump reportedly not getting in touch with the victim's family.
