Martina Navratilova slams tech mogul Elon Musk being called 'voice of the people' by Rep. Tony Gonzales of Texas
Martina Navratilova launched another scathing attack against billionaire Elon Musk after American politician Tony Gonzales called him the "voice of the people." The tennis legend has regularly critiqued Musk and his involvement in the political world.
During an appearance on CBS's Face the Nation, Gonzales, a U.S. representative for Texas's 23rd congressional district, made a bold claim about Musk. He suggested that Musk is essentially acting as the nation's Prime Minister.
Gonzales's comments referred to the Tesla CEO's significant involvement in campaigning for President-elect Donald Trump. He also pointed to Musk's role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an advisory body where Musk collaborates with fellow billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy.
"It feels like Elon Musk is our Prime Minister ... a large part of that voice is a reflection of the voice of the people," Gonzales said.
A video of the American politician stating this was uploaded on X and Martina Navratilova shared it by adding:
"What a load of crap- Musk is the voice of the people????"
In the comments, she doubled down on her criticism and wrote:
"Sure- the richest man in the world is the voice of the people… how delusional."
Navratilova actively campaigned for the Democrats during the 2024 Presidential Elections, often criticizing Donald Trump and the Republican Party. She also expressed disapproval of Musk's growing influence in US politics. However, she was even more concerned by reports of Musk's involvement in European politics.

Elon Musk's increasing influence in global politics has sparked significant debate, with critics like Martina Navratilova voicing strong concerns. Musk, a key supporter of President-elect Donald Trump, played a pivotal role in his campaign victory, leveraging his vast platform and resources.
Musk's political reach, however, appears to extend beyond the United States. Recent reports suggest he is in discussions to donate up to $100 million to the UK's Reform Party, led by Nigel Farage.
Following a meeting with Musk at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, Farage described the encounter as "great" and "historic," highlighting Musk’s dissatisfaction with Britain’s major political parties. Additionally, Musk has openly endorsed Germany's far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, posting on X:
"Only the AfD can save Germany."
Navratilova, a staunch critic of Musk and Trump, expressed alarm over Musk's growing global political ambitions. Sharing her concerns on X, she wrote:
"Musk wants to buy the world. What or who will stop him? Voters. Though that didn’t work out so well here. Hopefully Brits and others are smarter than us Americans…"
Trump, alongside Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, will assume office in January 2025, marking a new chapter in US politics.
