"Maybe if I was a bit older"- Coco Gauff jokes about shooting her shot with Hollywood star Michael B Jordan
Women's tennis sensation Coco Gauff recently expressed her admiration for popular Hollywood star Michael B. Jordan.
The 20-year-old is currently competing at the 2023 Indian Wells and is through to the quarterfinals for the first time in her career. She put up an emphatic performance to outlast Rebecca Peterson in three-sets 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.
The American joined the expert panel for a candid post-match interview and shared her opinions on various topics on and off the court. While discussing the recently acclaimed movies at the 95th Academy Awards, Gauff mentioned watching Michael B. Jordan starrer 'Creed 3' twice in theaters.
"I watched Creed 3 twice in theaters, he did well directing the movie and playing the character too, mainly for the acting and other reasons as well. I mean, he's Michael B. Jordan, the guy looks so good," Coco Gauff said
The interviewer, Prakash Amritraj, was quick to ask the red-faced Gauff if she was shooting her shot to the actor with her comments, but the youngster was quick to dismiss such claims.
"No, no," Gauff said, while blushing. "I'm way too young for him, maybe if I was a bit older."
The World No. 6 has always expressed her interest towards movies, music and pop culture. She previously mentioned liking famous pop artists like The Weeknd, Rihanna, Beyonce and Jaden Smith in an interview. Gauff also recently predicted that the sci-fi movie 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' would win the best motion picture at the 2023 Academy Awards.
"I was the only one who said that, because everyone else liked 'Top Gun'. The movie was like a play on the multiverse and I’m already a big Marvel fan. Everyone did so well in that film, so I was like for sure they're gonna win best picture, and I like 'Top Gun' too, it was bad luck that 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' came out at the time of 'Top Gun'. I knew they were going to win, I felt my gut and trusted it," Gauff said.
Coco Gauff to square off against Aryna Sabalenka next at the 2023 Indian Wells
Coco Gauff will take on Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells on Thursday. She leads the head-to-head against the Belarusian 3-1 and defeated her most recently at the 2022 National Bank Open in Canada.
Sabalenka, on the other hand, will be entering the contest on the back of an astounding three-set win over 2023 Dubai Open champion Barbora Krejcikova 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. The second seed looks in scintillating form and is yet to lose a match since her maiden Grand Slam victory at the Australian Open.
The winner of this tie could square off against seventh seed Maria Sakkari or 15th seed Petra Kvitova in the semifinals.
