"I'm trying to be the best version of myself as a father, but also as a player" - Lorenzo Musetti
Lorenzo Musetti gave a sneak peek into his new life as a parent with his girlfriend Veronica Confalonieri during the post-match interview after his first-round victory at the French Open.
The Italian said that having a son was the best experience of his life and that he was excited to have the company of his son Ludovico and his girlfriend Confalonieri while on tour.
"Yeah, it's such probably the best experience of my life. I had the chance to be able to be there when Ludovico is born. I'm really enjoying the opportunity to bring Ludovico and my girlfriend, Veronica, to some tournaments in Italy," the 22-year-old said.
"Hopefully I can bring them, let's say, more often in the third day where they are really a great company and always teaching me every day something new," he added.
The Italian said he tries to be a better parent and tennis player for his son.
"Yes, of course. A smile from my son is a good help to, let's say, decompress a lot of things during our, let's say, tournaments and matches. Of course, it's really emotional when you start to, let's say, play not only for yourself, but even for, let's say, your family and especially in this case for my son and for everyone who is looking from home," he said.
"So I'm trying to be the best version of myself as a father, but also as a player. So I think this mentality will help me to make a step forward," he added.
Lorenzo Musetti has risen to World No. 16 in the rankings, up from World No. 31 in May 2024.
