"My rock, my laugh, my love every single day" - Sloane Stephens celebrates soccer star husband Jozy Altidore's birthday; pens loving message
Former World No. 3 Sloane Stephens recently shared a loving birthday message for her husband Jozy Altidore. The American soccer star, who represented clubs like Hull City, Sunderland, and Toronto FC, celebrated his 35th birthday on Wednesday, November 6.
Stephens was last seen competing in the Korea Open, where she lost to Hailey Baptiste in the first round. Despite a spirited performance against the youngster, Sloane lost the match in straight sets, 7-6(4), 6-2.
The former US Open champion took to her Instagram stories to thank Jozy Altidore for being an integral part of her life and looked forward to creating more special memories in the future. Sharing a sweet picture of them on Instagram, Stephens wrote:
"Happy Birthday to my favorite person in the world! @jozyaltidore. Thank you for being my rock, my laugh, and my love every single day. Cheers to many more adventures together."
Stephens and Altidore attended the same school as children but lost touch until they bumped into each other a few years later. They quickly grew closer and tied the knot on January 1, 2022, at the St. Regis Bal Harbour in Miami Beach, Florida.
While Altidore was recently seen competing for the New England Revolution in Major League Soccer, Stephens chalked up 19 wins from 41 matches on the WTA tour this year, including a title-winning run in the Open Calfinances Rouen Metropole. She also reached the third round of the Australian Open, where she lost to Anna Kalinskaya in three sets.
Sloane Stephens comments on being stepmom to Jozy Altidore's son
Sloane Stephens has been married to Jozy Altidore for almost two years. The couple have a stepson, Cameron from Altidore's previous relationship.
During an interview with Cosmopolitan in June, Stephens mentioned that she shared a great bond with Cameron and how becoming a step-mom was an 'easy transition' for her.
"Yes, our son (Cameron) is nine and he's great and makes me want to have more kids. I always knew I wanted to be a mom and have a big family. I love kids, so for me, becoming a stepmom was a very easy transition," Stephens said.
The American also shared her experience of freezing her eggs back in 2022 and how it felt like being eight months pregnant.
"It's obviously not easy, but I didn't feel much pain at all. I did the injections for 12 days during my offseason, and I was bloated and I looked like I was eight months pregnant. I hung out, I did everything that I would have normally done," Stephens added.
As the WTA season comes to a close, Stephens will most likely be seen at the 2025 Australian Open next. She is currently among the top 80 players in the world and will be looking to improve her ranking next year.
