Naomi Osaka drops to her lowest ranking since 2014

Former World No. 1 and four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka has fallen to World No. 314 in the WTA rankings, her lowest position since 2014.

Osaka, who is currently expecting her first child with boyfriend Cordae, has seen a significant drop in her ranking on the WTA Tour. Despite not playing competitively for months, the Japanese managed to remain in the top 100, but that has now changed.

The 25-year-old's ranking has been steadily declining as points from her previous events have begun to wane. With the 2023 Miami Open now over, where she reached the finals last year but lost to Iga Swiatek, she has lost the 650 points she earned and has fallen to 314th in the rankings.

It's also the first time Naomi Osaka has been ranked outside the top 100 since May 2016, and the first time she's been ranked outside the top 200 since November 2015. Osaka has dropped below 300 for the first time in eight years and eight months, dating back to July 28, 2014.

Naomi Osaka recently announced a new campaign collaboration with Victoria's Secret. She made history by being the first person to work on a collection with the iconic brand. A proud Osaka also revealed to her fans that all the clothes in her collection were made from recycled materials.

Following that, the 25-year-old attended an event in West Hollywood, California, where she discussed her new collaboration and revealed that she is the only one who knows her baby's sex; her boyfriend is unaware of it.

"I've been preparing, but he doesn't know the gender yet, only I know. So it's not like I can build out the room or anything. So I don't know, [I'm] just kind of winging it. That's kind of the key motto in my life a little," Osaka said.

The four-time Grand Slam champion then stated that the challenges and learnings of motherhood are what she is most looking forward to. She added that while she is unsure of what is to come, she has people in her life she can seek advice from.

"I think what I'm looking forward to most is the challenges and just learning. I think there's going to be a lot of things that I don't know, but I have a lot of really amazing people close to me that I can ask questions about. Just a new adventure," Naomi Osaka said.

Osaka is planning to return to the WTA Tour in 2024.
