Naomi Osaka reacts hilariously in response to 'overuse of bows' fashion-ick after sporting similar outfit at US Open 2024

Naomi Osaka hilariously reacted to a fashion ick about the "overuse of bows." The Japanese star had previously turned heads with her bow-themed outfit at the 2024 US Open.

Osaka's outfit, created in collaboration with Nike and fashion designer Yoon Ahn, was one of the talking points of the New York Major this year. Although she was ousted in the second round, she featured two separate bow-adorned outfits for day and night. The 26-year-old had completed the attire with bows on her shoes as well.

Recently, Osaka took to Instagram to share a few images and videos in a post. The first slide showed her wearing the striking black outfit with an oversized white bow prominently tied at the back from her US Open campaign. The outfit also consisted of a pleated skirt.

The second slide was a TikTok of a person saying that their "Fashion ick" was the "overuse of bows when we don't need them."

Naomi Osaka reacted to the person's statement on the third slide with a popular meme featuring a man with a confused and slightly amused expression, with multiple question marks ("???") around his head.

In the fourth and final slide, she added a TikTok of herself jumping around in her green and white outfit at the US Open.

Osaka, who is known for making fashion statements on the court, had an underwhelming campaign in New York. She started strong with a straight-set win over 10th seed Jelena Ostapenko before facing defeat against eventual semifinalist Karolina Muchova in the second round.

In an interview with the New York Times in August, Naomi Osaka laid out her inspiration for the bow-inspired kit called the "Goth Lolita" at the US Open.

"The inspiration for me was definitely Japanese, like Harajuku. I remember one of the first times I went to Japan, I saw so many frills and so many bows," Osaka said.

When asked why she opted for a "girlish" design, Osaka stated that she does not associate herself with being girlish on the court although she is attracted to "beautiful and cute things."

Further, she also expressed her reasons for opting for two different colored outfits for day and night matches. She chose green for the day as it gives her "peace and serenity." Meanwhile, she chose black for the night as it symbolizes "Strength" for her and makes her feel like Marvel hero Black Panther.
