Naomi Osaka thrilled to have Pharrell Williams join as Louis Vuitton's new Men's Creative Director
Naomi Osaka is excited to have Pharrell Williams as Louis Vuitton's new Men's Creative Director. The American musician and fashion entrepreneur's appointment is effective immediately, with his first collection set to debut in June during Men's Fashion Week in Paris.
In January 2020 Osaka joined the Louis Vuitton family as their newest ambassador. She contributed her star power to Louis Vuitton's spring/summer 2021 advertising campaign, which was captured on camera by LV's Artistic Director of Women's Collections, Nicolas Ghesquiere.
According to a statement issued by the fashion house, Pharrell Williams will succeed Virgil Abloh as Louis Vuitton's men's creative director. Louis Vuitton fashion designer Virgil Abloh passed away in November 2021 from a rare form of heart cancer.
Pharrell Williams is not new to the world of fashion. In 2003, he and fashion designer Nigo co-founded the streetwear label Billionaire Boys Club. He has also worked with other premium companies, such as Tiffany & Co., Moncler, and Adidas.
Embracing Williams' appointment, the Japanese tennis star took to social media.
"bigggg", she wrote alongside a fire emoji.
Naomi Osaka is also a fashion designer in her own right. She has participated in New York Fashion Week. She worked with Japanese-American fashion house Adeam to assist in designing the outfits that had their catwalk premiere during its Fall 2020 presentation in February. The four-time Grand Slam champion wore a long-sleeved dress from the capsule collection and sat front row for the momentous occasion.
