Nelly Korda takes Michael Mmoh's fiancee Klara on drinking getaway to Croatia; American jokes about missing out on 3rd-wheeling opportunity

World No. 1 golfer Nelly Korda recently shared a glimpse of her vacation with American tennis player Michael Mmoh's fiancee, Klara Mrcela, in Croatia. The picture later elicited a funny reaction from Mmoh, who is not a part of the trip.

Korda recently finished T26 at the 2024 Amundi Evian Championship in France. Following the event, the American took some time off in Croatia with her friends, including Michael Mmoh's fiancee, Klara Mrcela.

Korda shared a picture from her getaway on her Instagram story, where she held a drink with Mrcela across from her. Additionally, the golfer included a humorous message for Mmoh in the story.

"@michaelmmoh taking your spot for a few days," she wrote.

Mmoh re-shared Korda's story on his Instagram and added a note to it. The 26-year-old joked about missing the vacation, writing that he wished he was "3rd wheeling" with them.

"Wish I was 3rd Wheeling in Croatia with y'all! @nellykorda is also the only person on the planet that can convince my fiance to drink," he wrote.

Speaking in the press conference during his Tata Open campaign last year, Mmoh acknowledged the challenge of tennis competing against sports like the NFL and NBA in America. However, he expressed optimism about tennis's ongoing growth.

"I mean, definitely, it's gonna be tough to compete with like the NFL and NBA In the US. Those two sports are always just gonna be bigger. It's just the way it is…But definitely, I think tennis is going to continue to grow," Mmoh told Sportskeeda.

The American further cited examples such as his compatriot Ben Shelton, who reached the top 100 without playing a tournament outside America. Moreover, Mmoh highlighted Frances Tiafoe's inspiring run to the semifinals of the 2022 US Open, which, according to him, will motivate people to follow the sport.

"What Ben did was amazing to be inside the top 100 without ever leaving the States. I don't know how many people have done that. I think like, the more guys like Frances, or me, or Ben Shelton, or, you know, just more guys with like personalities that are coming up and just the younger generation to kind of look up to. I think Frances getting into the semis (at US Open) is going to inspire a lot of people," he added.

Mmoh, currently ranked No. 127 in the ATP rankings, last competed at the ATP Savannah Challenger in April this year. However, he conceded a walkover to his opponent, Aidan Mayo, in the first round.
