Nick Kyrgios 2025 prediction: Tennis insider tips Aussie for top 20 return and biggest comeback in men's tennis

Nick Kyrgios is expected to make a major comeback in the upcoming season, with predictions placing him at least in the top 20. This forecast emerged during discussions among tennis insiders about the 2025 campaign.

The 2022 season was a standout year for Nick Kyrgios, highlighted by his Australian Open doubles title and a runner-up finish in Wimbledon singles. However, his momentum was halted in early 2023 due to a knee injury, and a torn wrist ligament that required surgery. As a result, the Aussie was sidelined for an extended period, with his last match taking place at the BOSS Open the previous year.

The former Wimbledon finalist is poised to make his comeback in the 2025 season, likely starting at the Brisbane International. Eurosport's Alex Corretja predicted that Kyrgios would finish within the top 20 in the upcoming season, as he joined fellow experts Laura Robson, Tim Henman, and Mats Wilander in sharing their forecasts for the 2025 campaign.

"I’m going to go with Nick Kyrgios. Top 20? I think he can do that," Corretja said.

Meanwhile, Wilander echoed his sentiments saying:

"The comeback player of the year on the men’s side is definitely Nick Kyrgios."

Kyrgios' latest appearance was at the recently concluded World Tennis League exhibition event in Abu Dhabi, where he competed for the Kites. However, his team was ousted in the group stages.

Nick Kyrgios is gearing up for an impressive return in the upcoming season and expressed confidence in not holding back. He recently shared a picture on his Instagram story with the caption:

"Wrist reconstruction ain't gonna end me."

In an interview with Telecomasia on Saturday, December 21, Kyrgios confidently stated that he will continue to back himself in the upcoming season, despite the fierce competition from top players like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

"There’s no doubt that Sinner, Alcaraz — these guys are the best in the world right now, hands down. But that doesn’t mean I won’t believe in myself. I’ll always back myself and do everything I can to compete," he said.

Kyrgios, who will begin his 2025 season in Brisbane, will also play in the doubles draw alongside 24-time Major champion Novak Djokovic, as confirmed on Saturday, December 21. The ATP 250 event will run from December 29 to January 5.
