Nick Kyrgios calls Daniil Medvedev one of the 'hardest workers ever' after Russian star's honest life admission

Daniil Medvedev recently admitted that he allows himself to live a normal life from time to time, despite the demands of the pro tennis tour. Nick Kyrgios has now appreciated Medvedev's admission, while also calling the Russian one of the 'hardest workers' ever.

Speaking after his 6-4, 6-4 win over Novak Djokovic in the Dubai semifinals on Friday, Medvedev said that he enjoys eating desserts, going out with friends and extending his bedtime on occasion, contrary to what many believe his life is like.

"I do eat desserts. I do go to bed sometimes late playing Playstation. I can sometimes drink on the weekends with friends," Daniil Medvedev said.

Kyrgios is currently recovering from a knee injury that required him to withdraw from the Australian Open and undergo surgery. His initial comeback target was the Indian Wells Masters, which begins next week, but the Australian recently withdrew from both Indian Wells and Miami.

Meanwhile, Medvedev notched up a 13th consecutive win on tour by beating Djokovic. He will bid for his third title in as many tournaments when he takes on Andrey Rublev in Saturday's final.

Novak Djokovic heaped praise on Daniil Medvedev after the World No. 7 handed him his first defeat in 21 matches. Djokovic said that it was only a matter of time before Medvedev found his best form on the court again, and now that he has, he is a serious contender for Grand Slam titles.

The Serbian great also stated that Medvedev should never be underestimated.

"It was just a matter of time when he's going to be a contender for Grand Slam titles. He is a contender for Grand Slam titles, no doubt. We can never underestimate Daniil," Djokovic said in his post-match press conference.

Medvedev holds a 4-2 head-to-head lead against his childhood friend Andrey Rublev. But Rublev has won both their last two matches, with his latest win coming in the round-robin stage of the 2022 ATP Finals.

Medvedev has not dropped a single set en route to the final this week in Dubai.
