Nick Kyrgios makes his feelings clear on where $80 million-worth Jaylen Brown lags behind Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum
Nick Kyrgios recently delved into a key difference in the skillsets of the Boston Celtics powerhouses Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown The Aussie is a huge basketball fan and has expressed his love for the reigning NBA champions on many occasions.
Celtics have been in fine form during the 2024-25 season so far. Though there have been some downs, the reigning champions are currently second in the Eastern Conference with 27 wins and 10 losses, behind the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics take pride in boasting two of the biggest names in basketball Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.
The two men have been instrumental to their success in recent years with Brown also being the finals MVP in 2024. However, Nick Kyrgios took to X (formerly Twitter) to explain how Brown, who has a net worth of $80 million (as per Celebrity Net Worth), couldn't emulate Tatum's style of play.
"Jaylen can’t play the same laid back way Tatum does, he has to be more decisive with what he wants to do, when he has the same tempo and relaxed kinda dribble mindset he isn’t as dangerous- Tatum has the ability to hit more improvised shots."
Kyrgios also showed his love for Jayson Tatum following the American star's heroics in the Celtic's narrow 118-115 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. It is also worth noting that Tatum is currently fourth in this season's points per game with 28.1.
"You guys are terrible" - Nick Kyrgios lashed out at ESPN panelist for calling Jason Tatum out for not being 'genuinely excited' for Jaylen Brown
ESPN panelist Mike Greenberg suggested that Jayson Tatum didn't exude the same level of excitement as the rest of his Boston Celtics teammates after Jaylen Brown became the Eastern Conference MVP as he seemed unconvinced about the decision.
"When Jaylen Brown wins that award and the moment that it happens, the rest of the team just goes crazy. They were all so genuinely excited for him. You did not seem to think that it was mirrored in Jayson Tatum," Greenberg had said to his co-panelists.
However, Nick Kyrgios immediately jumped to Tatum's defense and called out Greenberg for his comments.
"Bro is literally smiling and clapping. You guys are terrible."
Kyrgios was delighted when his beloved Boston Celtics broke their 16-year drought last year to win their unprecedented 18th NBA title and shared an Instagram story highlighting their win.
"One of the happiest moments of my life," Kyrgios wrote.
On the tennis side of things, the Aussie made his return to tennis after over a year at the Brisbane International but lost to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the opening round. He has now shared concerns over a possible abdominal injury over his much-awaited return at his home Major, the Australian Open.
