Tennis power couples Jannik Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya, as well as Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter, are not playing in the mixed doubles event at the 2024 US Open. However, Kalinskaya and Boulter are competing in the women's doubles event, and they kicked off their campaign with a win.
The Russian-British pair faced the Chinese duo of Wang Xinyu and Zheng Saisai in the first round on Wednesday, August 28. They are set to face eighth seed Luisa Stefani and Demi Schuurs next.
Boulter and Kalinskaya are in a relationship with two Top 10 ATP players. Sinner, World No. 1, made his relationship with Kalinskaya public a few months ago, while De Minaur, World No. 10, has been with Boulter since 2020.
Although at the top of their games, both couples decided not to participate in the mixed doubles event at the New York Major. Interestingly, Sinner and Kalinskaya have never partnered in a mixed doubles tournament before.

Meanwhile, another tennis couple, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa, will be making their mixed doubles Grand Slam debut at the Flushing Meadows this year.
