"Novak Djokovic felt outclassed"- Carlos Alcaraz's coach Juan Carlos Ferrero opines Serb couldn't "keep up" with the champion in Wimbledon 2024 finalĀ
Carlos Alcaraz's coach Juan Carlos Ferrero was surprised by Novak Djokovic's performance in the Wimbledon 2024 final and felt that the Serb was "outclassed" throughout the match. Djokovic lost 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4) to Alcaraz, thus marking the second time he endured a straight-set defeat in a Wimbledon final.
The Spaniard this successfully defended his title at the London Major and clinched his fourth Grand Slam title.
During the post-match press conference Alcaraz's coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, was asked about his thoughts on the convincing victory over the seven-time Wimbledon champion. The 44-year-old began by emphasizing the importance of growth and approaching each tournament to win.
"Growth has to be there, we have to keep going. I think that now, at 21, you can't stop growing. You have to keep growing and move forward, have that enthusiasm and motivation to go to each tournament to win," Ferrero said ( via Punto de Break).
The 2003 French Open champion further expressed surprise at Djokovic's performance, noting that the Serb strained to stay level throughout the match. Ferrero added that while Djokovic performed better last year, he may not have been at his best this year.
"I was a little surprised by Djokovic's level today. I think he felt outclassed from the start. It was hard for him to keep up with Carlos' pace and ball speed. It's true that last year he was better, maybe this year, not being at 100%, it was a little harder for him," ( he added.)
Carlos Alcaraz leveled the head-to-head record against the 37-year-old Novak Djokovic at 3-3 with his victory in the Wimbledon final.

"I've never seen him serve that way. 136mph. I've never seen him serve that fast. He must've had a really good serving practice day yesterday. He really outplayed me, He was better than me in every aspect of the game," Djokovic said.
