"Novak Djokovic is just something else" - Hamad Medjedovic in awe of Serb's "insane" healing as he trains for Wimbledon just weeks after knee surgery

Novak Djokovic's remarkable recovery after undergoing surgery on his knee has amazed his compatriot Hamad Medjedovic. Medjedovic also shed light on the World No. 2's desire to compete at the Wimbledon Championships as he aspires to win his 25th Grand Slam title.

Djokovic suffered an unfortunate meniscus tear in his right knee during the fourth round of the French Open, forcing his withdrawal from the Major before his quarterfinal clash. The Serb underwent surgery to treat the tear a day later, leaving his Wimbledon participation up in the air.

However, the 24-time Grand Slam champion began his rehabilitation process shortly after his recovery and has since arrived at SW19 to commence his training on grass, aiming to clinch his eighth Wimbledon title.

Although the World No. 2 recently expressed satisfaction with his recovery progress, he also maintained that he would only compete if he was in "a position to go far and fight for the title."

Amid the uncertainty surrounding Novak Djokovic's participation, Hamad Medjedovic disclosed that he is impressed by the 37-year-old's incredibly rapid recovery. In an interview with CLAY ahead of his Wimbledon campaign, Medjedovic raved about his compatriot's "insane" healing abilities, describing him as otherworldly.

"This is out of this world. I think Novak is just something else. The way his body heals is insane. He had a surgery two or three weeks ago. Now he’s here practicing. He’s from a another planet," Medjedovic said.

The 20-year-old also shed light on his conversations with Djokovic about his desire to compete at the grasscourt Major, emphasizing that the 24-time Grand Slam champion will be the "biggest favorite" for the title if he is fit enough to compete.

"We’ve talked after his surgery. I was checking on him. He wants to play. Most likely he’s fit since he came here. I really wish him to be healthy and fit. I hope that we get to see him play this year at Wimbledon," he said.
"For sure. If he’s fit and healthy, which I believe he is, because he came here, he is in my opinion the biggest favorite to be the champion," he added.

When asked which aspect of Novak Djokovic's game he would like to steal, Hamad Medjedovic humorously expressed his desire to take "everything" from the "best player" in history.

"Everything. Everything. Please, everything. I would definitely take all of his game… What would you take from someone who’s the best tennis player ever? I think everything is the right answer," he said in the same interview.

Hailing the 37-year-old's physical and mental strength, Medjedovic also expressed his immense admiration for his fellow Serb's disciplined method of treating his body.

"Look at his body, his mentality. It’s everything. It’s literally everything. He has it all. He’s so professional. He’s so disciplined, even though he’s 37 now, right? It’s just amazing how he treats his body after all these years. It’s just amazing to see him play tennis," he added.

Novak Djokovic's final decision regarding his Wimbledon participation is likely imminent, as the 24-time Grand Slam champion recently shared that he would do "his best" to arrive at a decision before the draw ceremony on June 28.
