The Federer-Nadal rivalry is one of the greatest rivalries in the history of men's tennis
The Federer-Nadal rivalry which the fans nicknamed the 'Fedal' rivalry, was one of the most prolific one-on-one player confrontations in tennis and sports history. The pair first met each other on the court at the 2004 Miami Open, where Nadal defeated Federer 6-3,6-3. The last match between the duo was at the 2019 Wimbledon semi-final, where Federer beat Nadal 7-6(3),1-6,6-3,6-4.
Rafael Nadal leads the overall head-to-head 24-16. A major part of this lead comes from Spnaiard's dominance over Federer on the clay surface. Nadal won 14 out of the 16 matches played on the red dirt between the duo.
Federer on the other hand, leads Nadal in the hard courts and the grass courts. The Swiss maestro leads his Spanish rival 14-10 on matches played on the two surfaces, where the playing style suited the former more.
