Novak Djokovic makes big promise for 2025 season after surprise ATP Finals withdrawal

Novak Djokovic has assured fans that he’ll kick off his 2025 season in the very first week. The announcement comes after he wrapped up his 2024 season early, withdrawing from the ATP Finals.

It seems Djokovic has moved on from the recent setback and is taking some well-deserved time off. He was spotted enjoying a Champions League match between Crvena Zvezda and FC Barcelona, followed by a EuroLeague basketball game in Belgrade between Crvena Zvezda and Alba Berlin.

During halftime of the basketball game, he told Sport Klub that tennis is still his main focus and that he plans to return to the courts as soon as possible.

“I told you guys that a million times. I would like to play the Davis Cup too, let’s see what happens. Tennis is still my focus! I am going at full throttle in the off-season, we go for another ride. I just needed to recharge and refresh a bit after an exhausting year," the Serb said.
"I am going to play in the first week of the season, I am just not sure yet where. Then, of course, Australian Open," he added.

This year was one of Novak Djokovic's least successful, marking the first time since 2017 that he didn’t win a Grand Slam. However, he found consolation in winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion most recently competed at the Shanghai Masters, reaching the final but falling to Jannik Sinner. He later withdrew from the Paris Masters and pulled out of the year-ending event, citing an undisclosed injury.
