Novak Djokovic's merciless practice session with Jason Kubler in Dubai draws a painfully relatable reaction from the Australian
Novak Djokovic's practice session with Jason Kubler in Dubai elicited a relatable reaction from the Australian. The Serb absolutely demolished Kubler in the practice game ahead of his first match at the 2023 Dubai Tennis Championships.
Djokovic is gunning for his sixth Dubai title. With an impressive 12-0 record in 2023, he is looking to extend his unbeaten streak and secure the title at the ATP 500 tournament.
The Serb was seen in a grueling practice session with Australian tennis player Jason Kubler before his first game of the tournament. He dominated Kubler, giving him no chance of picking up a victory.
A video of the ruthless practice session made its way onto social media. In response to the merciless domination he faced, Kubler commented three crying emojis under the video.
Before coming to the UAE, the World No. 1 was seen training at the Novak Tennis Center in Serbia. It confirmed that he has fully recovered from the hamstring injury he sustained on his way to claiming his 10th Australian Open title last month.
The practice session in Dubai is further evidence of his remarkable recovery.
Novak Djokovic adds another record to his name by overtaking Steffi Graf in most weeks at No. 1
Novak Djokovic continues to solidify his place in the annals of sporting history. On February 27, he surpassed Steffi Graf's remarkable record of 377 weeks as the World No. 1.
After his record-breaking 22nd Grand Slam singles title victory at the Australian Open, the Belgrade native reclaimed the top spot for the seventh time.
The Serb has now spent 378 weeks at the top of the world rankings, the most by any player, male or female. He broke the record for most weeks as No. 1 among male players back in March 2021, surpassing Roger Federer's record of 310 weeks.
"Of course, with your love and great strength that you have given me over the years, I’ve managed to achieve many fantastic achievements throughout my career," Djokovic said in a video addressing his fans after breaking Graf's record.
"The most recent one [is] breaking the record [with] 378 weeks on No. 1 [in the] rankings, surpassing one of the greatest, most legendary tennis players — both men and women — that ever played, Steffi Graf. So I’m flattered, obviously extremely, extremely proud and happy for this achievement."
Novak Djokovic first attained the World No.1 ranking in 2011. His success in Grand Slam tournaments, coupled with his remarkable record against top players, has enabled him to remain at the summit for an incredible amount of time.
