Day five of the 2024 Paris Masters once again produced some scintillating tennis on the hard courts of Bercy. The top players on tour showed their grit and determination to stake their claim for the title at the last Masters 1000 event on tour.
15th seed Ugo Humbert stole the show as he outsmarted Carlos Alcaraz in the third round. The Frenchman had lost his previous two encounters against Alcaraz, but redeemed himself with a brilliant three-set win, 6-1, 3-6, 7-5.
Third seed Alexander Zverev powered through to the semifinals with a solid win against Stefanos Tsitsipas. He eliminated the Greek in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4 and is now two wins away from claiming his second Masters 1000 title this year. He will take on Holger Rune in the last four.
The Dane, meanwhile, continued his impeccable record in Paris by outfoxing Alex De Minaur in the last eight. He defeated the Australian in a close three-set bout, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. Rune has reached the semifinals in Bercy for the second time in the last three years.
Meanwhile, Grigor Dimitrov also kept his title hopes alive with a hard-fought win over Arthur Rinderknech. He defeated the local favourite in a gripping three-set encounter, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(5).
