Paris Masters 2024 Schedule Today: TV schedule, start time, order of play, live stream details | Day 7
The 2024 Paris Masters has lived up to the hype surrounding it. Apart from the frenetic crowd in Bercy, players have brought their elite skill sets to the table as they fight for the trophy in the capital of France.
One of the standout performers at the event has been World No. 18, Ugo Humbert. The Frenchman entered Bercy on the back of early exits in Shanghai and Basel but quickly turned things around. He started his campaign with a resilient win over Brandon Nakashima and continued to build momentum by cruising past Marcos Giron in the second round. He then stunned the overwhelming favorite Carlos Alcaraz in the Round of 16, beating the Spaniard in two hours and 16 minutes 6-1, 3-6, 7-5.
The 26-year-old still had a daunting task on his hands with in-form players such as Jordan Thompson and Karen Khachanov waiting in the wings in the last eight. While he brushed aside Thompson in straight sets, Khachanov tested him in the semifinals in a three-set match, but Humbert managed to come out on top 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-3. The local favorite will have a great chance to win his first Masters 1000 title on Sunday on home soil.
The other player who's dominated at the tournament is World No. 3 Alexander Zverev. The German is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career this year and is through to his fifth final on the main tour in Bercy. He's already captured a Masters 1000 title this year, the 2024 Italian Open, in May.
Zverev entered Paris on the back of a quarterfinal exit in Vienna but quickly got back to winning ways. He defeated Tallon Griekspoor and Arthur Fils en route to the quarterfinals and then showed his versatility against Stefanos Tsitsipas. The third seed then outmuscled Holger Rune in the semifinals 6-3, 7-6(4). He has only dropped one set at the event so far and will be a slight favorite to lift the title in the Paris Masters.
Zverev and Humber have faced each other twice on the main tour, with their head-to-head score locked at 1-1. The German claimed the honors during their previous encounter in the second round of the Paris Masters last year.
